Do consumers still get enthusiastic about LCD monitors? This is what LG are hoping for with their new model, the LG W2486L, which should have two strong points to attract customers. This monitor is remarkably thin, whilst offering an image with a high contrast ratio. This model will be formally presented to the public at the upcoming CES, but here are some technical details which are already known.
The W2468L looks good from the front, but it’s the side view which really impresses. The casing is just 2cm thin, meaning it can fit on almost all desks, despite the 24inch screen diagonal. Almost even more impressive is the contrast ratio which LG gives as being 1,000,000:1. Thanks to LED technology, this LCD monitor should also have a relatively low energy consumption.
The 4ms reaction time is also promising and a running brightness optimisation feature should also improve the image, especially during video playback.
What we’ve heard so far about the LG W2468L sounds good. Some important details, such as the price and launch date, are still missing at the moment, but these should be announced at the CES in January. The industry press will also keep us up to date with their opinions once they have seen the monitor in the flesh.
